To create a space by selecting a boundary

Select
(
Create Space ).
The
Create Space dialog opens.
The contextual ribbon tab opens.

On the Placement Options tab, select Place By:
Select Shape.
Tip: For creating 3D spaces, solid shapes such as one drawn using the
(
Place Free Form
) tool is
selected.

Select an existing shape element in the view.
The selected shape converts into space.
